They maintain a free to use app (available on both Android and iOS!) with tons of courses and guided sessions grouped into so called “Programs” such as “Stress”, “Sleep”, “Relationships”, “Mindful Eating” etc.
What I especially like about it, is the mood tracker - before and after taking an exercise, the user is asked to describe their mood with three sliders: “Happy”, “Content” and “Alert”. A mood chart is then build upon the submitted data.
I have been doing guided daily sessions with different apps for the past two weeks. Every evening, before going to bed and tuning in a random podcast, I do roughly 10 minutes of mind exercise. Baby steps.
The apps have been very helpful and fun to use as I can already see myself noticing more with less anxiety.
I think I’m going to stick with the Smiling Mind. I know the subscription-based applications will probably try to keep me – cough – paying, but I suppose the end game is to learn how to meditate without any guidance.
